Why Choosing Good Beer is Important for your Event
4/7 is National Beer Day, and what better way to celebrate than to share a little insider scoop of how to choose beers to serve. We are here to tell you that if you are having an event, you must offer beer. Here’s why!
1) Draft Beer: There is something to be said about beer on tap. I don’t know how to explain it other than people love and feel way cooler drinking a beer on draft than from a can. You can add a garnish (orange slice usually) to make it look good too. If we have draft beer, people are most likely going to drink one or two. Because it’s like a private event, and this keg is only for you. There’s something about that mindset that people tend to enjoy and really love! Bonus points for choosing a keg from a local brewery you both love or both drank on your first date. A good story always provides guests with more ways to smile and drink what you have! Reminder: only get a keg (or two) if you know your guests like beer! This is our most popular option when people just want to serve beer, wine, and champagne.
2) Corona Bottle: Maybe it’s because it’s the name of the pandemic we just experienced or maybe it’s because it’s just that good cold with a lime. We’ve done more weddings post covid than before at this point, and I would say 3 out of 5 offering Corona from the bottle with a lime. It looks cool and it tastes good. In summertime, outside, in San Diego, it’s like there’s nothing more cliché (but also nothing better). Also, it almost always sounds good when you don’t know what to order! It’s also is the perfect drink for when you want a drink but don’t want to get drunk (yet). You could also go with Pacifico bottle or ModeloI cans. The Mexican beers just hit better in the afternoon. It is also the perfect beverage for when you’re kind of already buzzed (and don’t want to be a quitter) but also know you shouldn’t drink anymore. Ya know? You get it.
3) IPA vs Pale Ale vs Lager: When it comes to beer, people know what they like. Meaning, if you offer a special gin cocktail, and someone who doesn’t like gin might be more inclined to try it because everyone is talking about how good it is with the lemon and the lavender flavors! However, when it comes to types of beer, people kind of already know if they like more of a hoppy IPA or more of a lighter beer. So our suggestion is to offer one of each type. That way your red ale and IPA lovers are happy, and your light beer guys are satisfied as well. This is a nice option for when you have special kegs of an orange wit and a chocolate porter. Once the kegs are tapped, people will go to the cans or bottles and think nothing of it. Again, this is important to offer all these when you know your crew drinks a lot of beer or when beer or wine is their only option.
4) Personalize it: A special way to show love to your heritage, your culture, your ancestors, your family - is by choosing a beer that shows them love. Maybe your family is from Hawaii or your Japan - you should have a Maui Brewing Bikini Blonde Lagar or an Asahi or Sapporo! This is a great way to involve your loved ones and offer a different beers for guests to enjoy!
